🌄 Stunning Panoramic Views

Mount Sarakura rises to 622 meters and offers panoramic views across Kitakyushu City, including the industrial area, Dokai Bay, the Wakato Bridge, and even views toward the Kanmon Bridge region. From the summit observation deck, visitors can enjoy sweeping daytime landscapes and spectacular night views listed among the “New Three Major Night Views of Japan.”

🚆 Easy Access — Cable Car & Transport

Visitors can easily reach the summit within about 10 minutes by taking the Sarakurayama Cable Car followed by a slope car from the base station. The journey offers scenic views along the way.

Typical Access:

  • From JR Yahata Station, take a bus to the cable car station area.

Cable & Slope Car:

  • Cable car: Base to mid-station (~6 min)
  • Slope car: Mid-station to summit
  • Round-trip ticket available with adult fare around ¥1,600 (prices are subject to change).

🥾 Hiking Routes Available

In addition to the cable and slope cars, there are several hiking trails that lead to the summit, allowing visitors to enjoy nature walks and scenic views on foot.


🍻 Summer Beer Garden

During the summer season, a beer garden at the summit invites visitors to relax with drinks while enjoying panoramic views and cool evening air—perfect for date nights or special summer outings.


🌆 A Symbol of Kitakyushu

Mount Sarakura is visible from many parts of Kitakyushu and is considered a city symbol. Its observation decks, restaurants, and broadcast antennas atop the mountain contribute to its iconic status.
